The Krill used in our Krill Oil is known as the Euphausia Superba, a sustainable Antarctic species. They are a fantastic source of Omega 3 Fatty Acids and naturally deep red in colour due to the Astaxanthin they contain. Astaxanthin is a carotenoid which must be consumed in the diet as the body is unable to synthesise this on its own, this prevents damage to the oil and is believed to have antioxidant properties when consumed.
Krill Oil really differs from regular Omega 3 Fish Oils is due to the presence of phospholipids. Whereas the omega fatty acids in regular fish oils are supplied in a triglyceride format, Krill Oil almost exclusively supplies the beneficial fatty acids in a phospholipid format.
